What's the root cause here, too much initial timing advance?
Where I lurk and read, there seems to be some confusion. Some think it's the battery-solenoid-starter axis that runs weak when the engine is hot. My '87 Caprice always had this issue after we would go out for lunch and an hour later the MF would not want to start yet the starter was spinning the engine at normal speed. So I discount anything to do with the starter.
I used to think it was something with fuel delivery but I am not sure anymore.
