I've had friends serve me McCallan and a couple of other mid to high priced Scotch and it always tastes the same to me. Like someone half filled a oak barrel with bog peat and strained water through it. George Dickel sour mash bourbon for me.
I prefer German wines over French.
As to Italian cheeses....Romano, Parmesan and Ricotta are about all I know and those are usually mixed in foods and so I never tasted them unadulterated.
Maybe there's something wrong with my taste buds and sense of smell.
