5 -40w versus 5-20w

Did not cause that. Now if it was say, 20-50w yeah, maybe in cold weather.
I run 15-40w in everything due to the extreme temps here. I found the 5-20w did not hold up in the summer with temps over 115. In a normal place, run what they recommend. Some of the lighter oil reason was fuel mileage ratings, also the thought was the lighter oils would help carry the heat away from the moving parts. Over 100k miles, I would probably go from 5-20 to 5-30 or 40w depending on the engine and the use.
