The part i forgetfully omitted was..

She said that on top of the dough was so much topping that if one tried to eat it like the pizzas we make over here, the toppings would run/fall off so much that it would make a mess. The thought I got out of it all after hearing her describe it was that the pizza we know over here is different from what the Italians enjoy. Not an uncommon thing, I suppose, to Americanize foods and other things.
